✦The Divine Feminine & Masculine
The first time I came across the concepts of the Divine Feminine and Divine Masculine was during my studies of the Medicine Wheel.
At the time, I was fascinated by the idea that these qualities could be understood as different forces within us. These are different to how we perceive gender but as energetic ways of moving, creating, receiving, knowing and relating to the world.
The Feminine holds qualities of receptivity, intuition, embodiment, compassion, creativity and connection.
The Masculine brings qualities of direction, structure, discernment, action and grounding.
Neither exists without the other.
We need the stillness and the movement.
The listening and the doing.
The vessel and the vision.
The roots and the reaching.
It is said our left hand side is more feminine and right is more masculine. However, these are guidelines to connect our individual truth. For me, it is less about defining what is feminine or masculine and more about noticing the relationship between these energies within myself.
Where am I pushing when I could listen?
Where am I waiting when I could act?
Where does my creativity need structure?
Where does structure need to soften?
These are ideas I continue to explore through breath, bodywork, creativity and the spaces I create with others.
I realise how it is not choosing one over the other, but to allow both to become more balanced, more fully alive within us.
In balance
